Colin Kaepernick's Girlfriend Nessa Diab Denies QB Will Stand for Anthem

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback became a pariah in certain quarters last season after kneeling before matches during the national anthem. Kaepernick has not directly confirmed those reports.

According to a report by Jason La Canfora on Sunday, Kaepernick has been living in NY and working out privately in New Jersey with the hope of signing with a team this season.

Relying on unnamed sources, ESPN reported in March that Kaepernick would stand during the anthem if he played again.

The reporter also noted that Kaepernick said he'd be willing to meet any time or place for a workout with a team.

Kaepernick also told La Confora that he would also donate his proceeds of jersey sales if given a roster spot. It was not described as an interview, as La Canfora paraphrased Kaepernick's comments.

"Wanted to clarify one thing regarding @Kaepernick7. When there's significant change and I feel like [the American] flag represents what it's supposed to represent, this country is representing people the way that it's supposed to, I'll stand". To emphasize that point, Kaepernick then retweeted the original story containing La Canfora's statement that Kaepernick would stand.

"Standing for Anthem wasn't something that I spoke to Colin about Saturday".

"Reports about @Kaepernick7 standing for anthem had not been refuted. Colin and I didn't discuss". I didn't ask him if he would sit or stand.

The report originated on CBS.

Kaepernick, who kneeled during the National Anthem while quarterback for the 49ers past year to protest racial injustice and police brutality, spoke with CBS NFL Insider Jason La Canfora on Saturday about his future as he remains unsigned by a team.
