Iowa State's Evrett Edwards Plants Iowa Flag on Oklahoma's Midfield Logo

Iowa State starting quarterback Jacob Park will miss the Cyclones' game Saturday against No. 3 Oklahoma, as he takes a leave of absence for "personal health issues", the team announced Friday. A team staff member took away the flag, and someone yelled, "Evrett, what the hell?" The school has not said why Park is not with the team.

"Jacob is a great young man dealing with some personal medical concerns", Campbell said. However, Park has thrown for well over 1,000 yards in addition to nine touchdowns in just four games this season.

Iowa State broke a tie on Kempt's 25-yard pass to Allen Lazard, who made a spectacular coach in the end zone with 2:19 to play.

For now, the bigger concern is Park's well-being. I can't say enough about my teammates and what they did to help me out. A fourth-down pass from Sooners quarterback fell incomplete near midfield, sealing the outcome, which could damage the Big 12's chances of landing a team in the College Football Playoff. "But, supporting one another in hard times is where our focus is". Zeb Noland and Kyle Kempt are the other two quarterbacks on the roster.

The biggest upset of the college football has season has just taken place. For whatever it is worth, Park is still technically listed as this weekend's starting quarterback. But he tossed three interceptions in a loss last week to Texas, and also appeared to engage in an animated discussion with Iowa State coach Matt Campbell on the sideline.
