Sasikala gets 5-day parole from Jail to meet her husband

Jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala has been granted a five-day parole by the Karnataka prison authorities, days after she filed for a 15-day bail to attend to her ailing husband in Chennai.

In big relief for AIADMK leader Sasikala, court has granted her parole for 5 days to go an meet her ailing husband.Sasikala's husband M. Natarajan has a liver problem and is in a Chennai hospital. Textile minister OS Manian has already said he would meet Sasikala when she is released.

Sasikala has also been ordered to not interact with the media during this period.

A parole was requested by AIADMK leader Sasikala, but it was rejected by the Bengaluru jail authorities. The parole application gave the reason that her husband is in critical condition who is waiting for multiple organ transplantation.

Almost eight months later, she has managed to leave the Bangalore jail on a five-day parole.

Though Sasikala's parole conditions may not allow her to meet visitors, her presence in Chennai has the potential to change the political scenario.

Sasikala has been serving her term in jail since February this year.

Sasikala, 60, left for Chennai in a private vehicle along with her nephew and sidelined AIADMK leader TTV Dinakaran from the jail at Parapanna Agrahara on the city's southern outskirts.

Sasikala's husband, M Natarajan (74) underwent the liver and kidney transplant on October 3 with the organs harvested from a brain-dead youth, according to Gleneagles Global Health City hospital in Chennai. She is also instructed to contact the jurisdictional police in case of any emergency. She had installed herself as AIADMK chief soon after Jayalalithaa's death in December past year.

Around 100 supporters of "Chinnamma" gathered outside the jail premises.
