Amazon Debuts Trailer For Woody Allen's Wonder Wheel

Amazon Debuts Trailer For Woody Allen's Wonder Wheel

And all of that is set to Allen's standard whimsy and nostalgic palette.

Wonder Wheel premieres at the New York Film Festival and opens on December 1st. There we meet a woman played by Kate Winslet who finds herself in the middle of two incredibly complicated situations. The plot is set in motion when Carolina flees from her violent mobster husband and must hole up with her father, leading to conflict with the unstable Ginny. It's not entirely clear from the trailer how Timberlake's lifeguard Mickey has secret dreams of being a playwright, and he may or may not have something going on with Winslet's Ginny.

"Wonder Wheel" is both written and directed by Woody Allen.

The film looks gorgeous with a mix of the feeling of classic films, Woody's well writing, and Cinematographer Vittorio Storaro's handsome lighting and framing.

With a tease of murder, mystery, and madness, Wonder Wheel already feels more in line with the filmmaker's darker works like Match Point or Crimes and Misdemeanors.

"Wonder Wheel" is the first film that Winslet and Allen have worked on together. Winslet is drawn into the drama as Ginny, Humpty's wife. But there's an undercurrent of violence that runs throughout the trailer thanks to Winslet's frenetic and unraveling performance - it's easy to imagine this earning the actress her eighth (!) Oscar nomination.

The other big star of the film is Coney Island itself, and cinematographer Vittorio Storaro perfectly captures the vibrant area in all its mid-century charm.
