Mauricio Pochettino says that he persuaded Fernando Llorente to choose Tottenham over Chelsea by explaining his "philosophy" and "project" to him.

Llorente, who scored 15 league goals last season, had been widely expected to reunite with his former Juventus coach Antonio Conte at Chelsea. "Tottenham are an fantastic club with a wonderful project and I think I fit in very well", said Llorente.

Mauricio Pochettino insists Harry Kane does not have to leave Tottenham to be considered world class after the striker's impressive Champions League double helped make Wembley feel like home. 'It is clear that Pochettino played a very important role in the decision. "It's a very hard situation but all the staff try to help him, to push him and keep him motivated so he is fit again as soon as possible".

"I think it's an exciting game for us".

Llorente made his debut for Spurs in the 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, and is likely to be involved in the squad for the visit of his former club Swansea to Wembley on Saturday. "He knows very well that after you need to deserve and show your quality to have the possibility to play".

Do you think Llorente made the right decision?

"Then he [became] the Espanyol manager and I faced him several more times".

Winks, 21, had begun making major inroads to the first-team last season before his campaign was brought to a premature end when he was stretchered off during a 2-0 win over Burnley, with it later emerging he had suffered ankle ligament damage.

Davies, however, has played down talk of Spurs having an innate issue with playing at Wembley, and is hoping for another good performance when the Lilywhites host Swansea City on Saturday. While Chelsea may have offered him only a one-year deal - as is our custom with every player already over 30 years of age - Spurs gave him a two-year contract with an option for a third depending on how many games he plays.
