Super Eagles Defeat Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in Uyo

Jonathan who was President when the Super Eagles won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, took to his verified Twitter handle to express his delight with the emphatic win over the reigning African champions.

The visiting team Cameroon, began the encounter, full steam ahead; a style that could only end up discouraging the Nigerians. The spirits of the Eagles awoke after an offside goal at the 24 minute.

The Chinese-based pair of Odion Ighalo and John Obi Mikel handed Nigeria a 2-0 half-time lead, before Moses scored in the second half and then set up Kelechi Iheanacho for the fourth goal as Nigeria kept up their 100 percent record in Group B.

Ighalo opened the scoring in the 29th minute, and Mikel added a second before half time, while Moses made sure of victory with a strike ten minutes after the break.

Zambia and Algeria both have a point each and they play their third match against each other on Saturday in Lusaka.

Cameroonians still hoped for a consolatory goal which was not forthcoming.

The team is expected to immediately jet out for the second leg cracker against Cameroon at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on Monday, 4 September in Yaounde, Cameroon.
