Salvation Army monitors disaster relief process in Texas

Since Hurricane Harvey will likely impact more people than Hurricane Katrina, The Salvation Army is establishing multiple staging areas throughout Texas including San Antonio, Victoria, Arlington and Houston to coordinate relief efforts.

Both the Savannah Salvation Army and Savannah Red cross are deploying volunteers to assist victims of Harvey, according to WSAV.

Crews are expected to be in San Antonio, Galveston, Houston, and Corpus Christi.

The Chattanooga Salvation Army is part of the Kentucky-Tennessee Division, which is sending six mobile kitchen units capable of feeding up to 1,500 people a day from each unit.

Driscoll Children's Hospital, which cares for Corpus Christi's youngest and most ill patients, was directly in the path of Harvey. Donations are being accepted at this time to help those affected by the storm.

Three volunteers from West Palm Beach's Salvation Army are headed to Texas.

"Right now we've had to close hospitals in Texas because they're not safe", Hughes said. Please designate "Hurricane Harvey" in check memo lines. Furthermore, communication with the Emergency Disaster Relief (EDS) offices of The Salvation Army Divisional and Territorial Headquarters are also ongoing, should additional support be needed. In addition to units already based in Texas, mobile kitchens from Arkansas and Oklahoma are being sent to the region. I talked to him last night, and they're anxious their house may flood.
