Philippe Coutinho Issues Transfer Request After Liverpool Snub Barcelona Again

Jürgen Klopp has shed some light on the Philippe Coutinho transfer request situation at Liverpool and has opened up about the club's position.

For Liverpool fans, it won't be the first time they have lost a big name player to Barca, with the Catalonians stealing both Luis Suarez and Javier Mascherano in recent years.

Barcelona are desperate to land the 25-year-old to replace fellow Brazilian Neymar who was sold for a world record 222 million euros to Paris Saint Germain last week.

It is understood Coutinho - who is out of today's Premier League clash at Watford because of a back problem - declared his desire to leave the Merseyside club yesterday by submitting a transfer request via email.

"From a financial standpoint, there is no price limit to let him go or a price that we are ready to give in".

Liverpool travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, and are favourites to pick up all three points in their season opener.

"I had to sell a lot of players in my managerial career", Klopp said.

When the owners of Liverpool Football Club, Fenway Sports Group, issued a statement on Friday morning, a feeling of relief would have flown over Jurgen Klopp.

The Empire of the Kop reported that Liverpool are linked to Bayern Munich's Arturo Vidal after it emerged a move for Naby Keita broke down.

He joined Liverpool from Inter Milan in January 2013 for £8.5m. "He's not available and is also a doubt for Tuesday", he added.

"I think I have said it already a few times, but maybe that's not 100% clear".

Daniel Sturridge also looks set to miss Saturday's trip to Vicarage Road with a thigh injury, joining Coutinho, Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana as players now unavailable to Klopp.

"I can see them saying "stay here, until we've got the player we want to come in" so they might keep him for 12 months. The rest is not for you, it is between me and all the boys, not just Phil".
