Women's basketball league makes its debut in NBA Live 18

Many WNBA stars sat for detailed head scans at EA Sports' Tiburon studio, where NBA Live is made and athletes in other games get scanned as well.

NBA Live 18 will release worldwide in September for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The womens' league will be available in the WNBA Play Now mode, with teams and players balanced for the unique playstyle of that league.

This is the first time the WNBA will appear in a video game and the teams will only be available in NBA Live 18.

The "NBA Live" series has been known for trying new things, as they routinely included worldwide teams playing under FIBA rules for years in their games. A new mode in the game, called The One, has you select between playing in the league or playing 5-on-5 games on the streets.

EA Sports has announced that this upcoming edition of NBA Live 18 will feature a full roster of WNBA teams and players.

The NBA Live 18 press release also states that several of the league's top stars like Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and Maya Moore all did facial scans for the game; and this year's top draft pick, Kelsey Plum, contributed with some motion capture.

Working the players into the game was no easy task. They were also available in "FIFA 17".

NBA Live 18 shown off during EA's E3 2017 presentation and part of the focus was on the new career mode called The One, which sounds similar to Federation Internationale de Football Association 17's The Journey mode.

"The WNBA is home to some of the most incredible athletes on the planet, and we've been working hard to integrate them into our game in an authentic and meaningful way", said Sean O'Brien, the executive producer of the "NBA Live" series.
