Following the introduction of the Surface as a Service program past year, which provided Surface devices to businesses on subscription plans, Microsoft has debuted a similar offering aimed at consumers.

That starts a new 24-month payment cycle, but it's unclear right now how much credit buyers would get, if any, from their returned devices.

In addition to its own hardware, Microsoft announced several new third-party machines that will be available in the coming months pre-installed with Windows 10 S, the new, streamlined version of Windows for education.

Multiple Surface models: Customers can add as many devices as they want into a single agreement and can have a mix of models across the Surface portfolio.

Office 365 for Business:. As an added benefit, Surface Plus will also get you a 30-day, no-questions-asked return policy on your Surface, as well as a year of free in-store technical support.

"Whether it's a Surface Laptop, Surface Pro, Surface Book, or Surface Studio-Surface Plus provides a simple, no-hassle plan to help students unlock their productivity and be more creative with Surface", Liz Hamren, corporate vice president of Microsoft devices marketing, wrote in a blog post.

The new Surface Pen initially went up for order in June, but only in one color: Platinum. Subject to credit approval, regular consumers looking into Surface Plus will be able to purchase Surface hardware on a 24-month plan with 0 percent April. Furthermore, Microsoft is also offering device protection to the customers, it comes with accident damage protection.
