Disney Unveils Full Star Wars Land Model at D23 Expo

It features some celebrity appearances and gives fans insight on some of the upcoming news from Disney Parks and Resorts and Walt Disney Imagineering. The lands will be based on a remote trading port on never-before-seen planet at the very edge of the known galaxy.

"This is the most ambitious land we've built to date", said Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney's parks division at the unveiling. Revealing two anchoring attractions, that are sure to satisfy the die-hard Jedi lovers.

The model was revealed Thursday night at a special preview of the D23 Expo 2017 in Anaheim.

The lands in Anaheim and Orlando, which are expected to cost $1 billion each, are slated to open in 2019. Which is where - after a dramatic curtain drop - the half-inch-to-one-foot scale model for Star Wars Land was then unveiled. Walt Disney's dream has expanded beyond believe and the addition of Star Wars land, is proof how that imagination has no boundaries.

There are also said to be three different entrances, where you'll be recruited to either the Resistance or First Order, or you'll walk into something neutral like the Mos Eisley Cantina.

How so? Well, let's say that you choose to enter Star Wars Land through the Frontierland land entrance.

Star Wars Land is due to open in 2019 at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. The first allows them to take the reins of the Millennium Falcon on a "customized secret mission".

So guests will actually get to pilot the Millennium Falcon, which has been a fantasy at some point for every Star Wars fan.

The bulbous, mushroom-shaped buildings and scrap metal aesthetic (very postmodern) is reminiscent of the set pieces seen in the original trilogy, as well as the more recent films released by Disney.
