WhatsApp pinned chats now available for Android users

In what is being hailed as a welcome change, instant messaging app WhatsApp has Introduced the new pin chats feature for all Android users. Earlier this month, the company rolled out the update on the beta version of its Android app, and now the update is available for download on the Google Play Store. Tap on the pin button and you will have the chat pinned to the top.

Now, you will not need to scroll down numerous chats to get to your favourite one.

The biggest advantage of the feature is that once you have pinned a chat, it will stay on the top of your chat list, regardless of your conversation or dialogue timings with the concerned individual or group. With the pinned chats enabled, any other new message will appear after the chats you have pinned. Then they can tap the pin icon at the top of the screen. A notification will appear saying "You can only pin up to 3 chats" if you try to add more than three chats to the pinned list. Users can see any new conversations following the pinned chats. That's not it, people have also suggested as to what feature they would like to see next on WhatsApp.

Pinned chats doesn't exactly solve this dilemma, but it does provide an easy way to access frequent chats faster, eliminating the need to scroll through less essential chats. Similarly, to unpin a chat, tap and hold and you will find the unpin option pop up at the top. Before its arrival, the only way to keep important chats up top was to archive other chats constantly. Simply select the unpin icon and the chat will move down the chain of threads, in chronological order.
