Hull relegated, Crystal Palace secures Premier League status

A big game in regards to the relegation battle is set to take place this weekend as Crystal Palace host Hull City in a game where the losing team will find themselves in a bit of trouble.

Christian Benteke's goal in the 34th minute effectively put both the match and Hull City's season to bed, as Palace rolled to a 4-0 thrashing of Hull that both confirmed their own safety and condemned the Tigers to a return to the Championship in August.

Hull City were relegated for the second time in three seasons when they went down 4-0 at Crystal Palace, who guaranteed their Premier League survival in their penultimate match on Sunday.

"It's been a collective effort from everyone connected to the club; so congratulations to the players, backroom staff, club staff and definitely our supporters for their help in getting us over the line". He also recognised the potential for the Selhurst Park crowd to grow nervous, but if either team had displayed a lack of composure, it was Hull.

Hull, however, will join Middlesbrough and Sunderland in dropping down to the Championship for next season.

Crystal Palace are being linked with a £20million swoop for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, should they stay up.

They can be backed at nearly 3/1 but the rub is obviously supporting a side that last won a Premier League game on the road on August 20 and have managed a tired three draws since away from the KCOM Stadium.

Hull boss Marco Silva: "Now is not the moment to talk about the future of the manager".

In the circumstances, the first goal would be crucial and Hull, who had won only once at Palace in 32 years, were getting a sinking feeling in south London once again after Zaha punished a awful blunder to open the scoring in the third minute. Despite Hull's relegation, few reputations have grown during the second half of this season as manager Marco Silva's. It was very important and we lost 2-0.

"I believe we can win the next game".

Hull will not be as depleted as Crystal Palace, but they will still have a fair share of absences.

"We understand what we need to do differently, but we keep all together, we keep going together and we keep fighting for the next game".

"I'm not complaining it hasn't gone to the last game as I predicted, " Clement joked after Swansea secured a seventh straight season of Premier League football.

Benteke has scored a joint league-high six headed goals this season (same as Fernando Llorente, Michail Antonio, Olivier Giroud and Romelu Lukaku), while no side has shipped more headed goals than Hull (13, same as Sunderland). But, for me, it's easy to see what the club needs to do differently.
