Weight Watchers Smart Ones Recall 100000 Cases Of Desserts

Weight Watchers said it implemented the voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.

Cedar Crest Ice Cream recalled three flavors: chocolate chip cookie dough; Monster Cookie; and Pirate's Bounty, while Weight Watchers pulled its Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Weight Watchers has voluntarily recalled one of its frozen desserts over fears it could be contaminated with listeria. The product was distributed to retailers in the United States only.

The recall of the Weight Watchers Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae frozen desserts took place after the supplier of the cookie dough, Aspen Hills, Inc. announced positive test results for Listeria monocytogenes.

Despite the US product recall, there have been no customer reports of sickness related to the possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Healthy people might only suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, but listeria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women, officials said.

Customers should not eat the product.
